PiXel8-RF: Meet the Machine Behind the Treatment

PiXel8-RF: Meet the Machine Behind the Treatment

The console, the handpiece, the treatment tip. Three parts worth understanding before your consultation.

Illustrative cross-section showing microneedles delivering radiofrequency energy beneath the skin surface
Conceptual illustration of RF microneedling energy delivery; not the clinic device or a patient result.

A treatment name can sound familiar long before the equipment makes sense. If PiXel8-RF is on your shortlist, learning what the machine does gives you a more useful starting point than a dramatic before-and-after photograph. At LaserTouch MD in Bentonville, the conversation can begin with your concern—and the device proposed to address it.

This equipment guide looks at the relationship between controls, delivery and the treatment plan. It does not prescribe settings or assume that every device carrying a similar name has the same specifications.

01 / THE ENERGYWhat does “RF” actually mean?

Radiofrequency is electrical energy that can produce heat in tissue. In RF microneedling, an array of small needle-like electrodes enters the skin and delivers that energy below the surface. The FDA describes localized heating around the electrode tips. This is why the conversation needs to cover both needle placement and energy delivery, rather than treating the appointment as a surface-only facial. Read the FDA’s explanation.

02 / THE CONTROLSThe console is part of a bigger decision

Rohrer’s current PiXel8 product material describes adjustable treatment depth and different needle-tip configurations. Those are choices for a trained professional, not a menu of settings for patients to select. A useful question is: “How will you choose the configuration for my particular concern?”

Ask the team to identify the exact model and treatment tip before discussing specifications you have seen online. Rohrer also markets a separate platform called PIX:E. A similar name does not establish that the machines, features or proposed procedures are interchangeable. Explore Rohrer’s current PiXel8 information.

03 / THE HANDPIECEWhere the plan meets the skin

The handpiece is the working connection between the system and the treatment tip. Instead of asking only how powerful the machine is, ask how the provider will select depth, energy and the area treated—and how your history changes those decisions. Bring notes about prior procedures, unusual healing or pigment changes so the discussion stays specific to you.

You can also ask to see how the treatment tip is prepared and what infection-control steps apply. Understanding the sequence before the appointment makes it easier to recognize which questions remain unanswered.

What the label does—and does not—tell you

Rohrer lists PiXel8’s intended use as dermatologic and general surgical procedures for electrocoagulation and hemostasis: using electrical energy for tissue coagulation and control of bleeding. That wording is different from a promise to lift every face or correct every skin concern. Ask how your proposed use relates to the device’s labeling, what is known about the treatment and your individual goals. See the manufacturer’s indications.

Bring these three questions

  1. What are we trying to change? Choose one priority you can describe in your own words.
  2. Why this device and approach? Ask how the recommendation compares with other reasonable options, including waiting.
  3. How will we judge progress? Agree on follow-up and consistent photographs; the machine’s settings are not a guarantee of a particular outcome.
Make the equipment conversation personal.

Explore LaserTouch MD’s PiXel8 service, then request a consultation or call 479-268-4573. We welcome questions from Bentonville, Rogers and nearby Northwest Arkansas communities.
